As a freshman in college I had a friend named Wade Sallee. Most people were sure that Wade had low self esteem because he always walked with his eyes focused downward and looking at the ground. When I asked Wade about this habit of avoiding eye contact, he seemed truely shocked that anyone would make that assumption. His reply explained the phenomenon easily.
